Smith is well-known for her part in the Bernie Mac Show's Wanda McCullough. Her birthplace was in Chicago and has been performing for more than 20 years. Smith is famous for her appearances on the Bernie Mac Show, where she has hosted for seven years. Some of her other characters include UPN Malcolm & Eddie, CBS Nash Bridges, FOX Televisions Mart, FOX Televisions Sister, Sister, and NYPD Blue. Recent films include Roll Bounce, a Fox 2000 Film; King Ransom with New Line Cinema; Fox Searchlight Kingdom Come starring Whoopi goldberg; Marimax the Crossing Guard and Jack Nicolson.

A half English as well as Spanish her parents are Dennis Alan Taylor a former banker and Jennifer Marina Joy a psychologist. Her father was an Argentine and has Scottish as well as English heritage.
