Tom Hanks-5-1024x767Hanks his next film role was as astronaut and commander Jim Lovell in the 1995 docudrama Apollo 13. This reunited him with Ron Howard. Film critics generally praised the film and the performances of the entire cast, that included actors Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Gary Sinise, Ed Harris, and Kathleen Quinlan. The film received nominations for the Academy Awards nine times and won two. Later that year, Hanks starred in Disney/Pixar's computer-animated film Toy Story (1995), as the voice of Sheriff Woody. In the following year when he directed his debut with the musical comedy That Thing You Do! The story of the fall and rise of a 1960s rock band. Hanks also performs the role of a music producer. The Time magazine's Richard Schickel called it "charming" and many critics agree that Hanks' performances earned him a spot among the top romantic comedy actors of his generation.
